Anoectochilus Blume

An Indo-Malesian genus of about 35-40 species of ground orchids, Anoectochilus is represented in India by 13 species. Two species are found in Kerala.

This was described by Lindley based on William Graham Mclvor's (Superintendent of the Ootacamund Botanic Garden) collection from 'Walla Ghaut' in Silent Valley, Kerala.

Occurrence : Palghat and Wayanad Districts.

Distribution : Regional Endemic (Kerala and Tamil aNadu.)

This is often misidentified as A.regalis Bl., a Sri Lankan species but distinct in floral details.

Occurence: Trivandrum and Idukki Districts.

Distribution : Local Endemic (Kerala).
