Gastrodia is a saprophytic genus of about 30 species distributed from Madagascar through Indo-Malesia to Australia and the Pacific Islands. It has 5 species in India . Only one species has been recorded from kerala .

This has been recently recorded from Kerala as a new genus and species addition to the flora of Southern India .

Distribution : Widespread from India to Thailand .
