Pachystoma Blume

An Indo-Malesian genus of 2-5 species of terrestrial orchids, Pachystoma is represented in India by two species , both found in Kerala.

1. Pachystoma hirsutum ( Joseph & Vajravelu) Sathis & Manilal , Kew Bull. 42 (4): 942. 1987.

Joseph 7 Vajravelu described thier Eulophia hirsuta based on collection from Karasuryamala ,Palghat . Had they seen the number of pollinia (eight) in their specimen they would not have made the mistake of placing in in Eulophia where the pollinia number is two .

Occurrence : Trivandrum , Idukki , Palghat Districts.

Distribution : Regional Endemic (Kerala (type) and Tamil Nadu).

Blume described this species after the collection from Java.

Occurrence : Trivandrum , Idukki, Palghat Districts.

Distribution : Indo-Malesia .
