Paphiopedilum Pfitzer

AN Indo-Malesian genus of 70 , predominantly terrestrial , rarely epiphytic species , Paphiopedilum is represented in Inida by 9 species . Obly one species has been recorded from Kerala.

This species was discovered by Mrs. J.A. Brown from Agastyamala . This is very distinctive species related to Paphiopedilum spicerianum (Rchb.f.)Pfitz. and the recently described Paphiopedilum tigrinatum Koop . 7 N . Haseg .paphiopedilu druryi

Occurrence : Trivandrum District.

Distribution : Regional Endemic (Kerala , Tamil Nadu).
