Phaius Loureiro

A palaeotropic genus of about 50 species of mostly terrestrial orchids, Phaius is represented in India by five species . Only one species has been recorded from Kerala .

Thwaites described this species based on his collection from Saffragam District in Ceylon . For over a century this was the only collection till it was rediscovered from Kerala by Joseph

Occurrence : Trivandrum District.

Distribution : South India (Kerala) and Sri Lanka .
