Taeniophyllum Blume

A palaeotropic genus of 120-150 species of tiny epiphytes without leaves, Taeniophyllum is represented in India by 8 species . Two species are found in Keralataeniophyllum alwisii fruits .

Lindley described this species after a drawing sent by Thwaites from Sri Lanka .

Occurrence : Wayanad District.

Distribution : South India (Kerala , Tamil Nadu) and Sri Lanka .

2. Taeniophyllum scaberulum J.D. Hook., Fl. Brit. Ind. 6 : 77. taeniophyllum scaberulum1890; Fischer in Gamble 1928: 1448; Rajesh , Augustine & Sasidharan 1997 : 43.

Hooker used Rev. Edmund Johnson's collection from ' Cottayam ' made in 1840 for describing this species which was long lost. It was rediscovered recently from Periyar Tiger Reserve (Rajesh et al. 1997).

Occurrence : Idukki district .

Distribution : Local Endemic (Kerala).

There is an unconfirmed report of its occurrence in Nepal .
