Trichoglottis Blume

An Indo-Malesian genus of about 70 species of epiphytic orchids, Trichoglottis is represented by four species . Only one species is found in Kerala .

Oeceoclades tenera Lindl. Gen . Sp . Orch. 236. 1833; Wight 1851: 10. t. 1683.

Cleisostoma tenerum (Lindl.) J.D. Hook., Fl. Brit. Ind. 6: 73. 1890 ; Fischer in Gamble 1928: 1448.

Lindley described this species based on Macrae's collection from Sri Lanka . The thick lip with a 2-lobed callus at base

and the septate spur are very characteristic .

Occurrence : Trivandrum , Idukki and Palghat Districts.

Distribution : South India (Kerala , Tamil Nadu) and Sri Lanka .
