Tropidia Lindley

A pantropical genus of about 6 species of terrestrial orchids, Tropidia is represented in India by four species . Two species are available in Kerala .

Tropodia bellii Blatt. & Mc Cann., J. Bombay Nat. Hist. Soc. 35: 730. 1932.

Lindley based his description on a wallich specimen from Sylhet in Bangladesh.

Occurrence : Pathanamthitta, Palghat, Wayanad Districts.

Distribution : Indo-Malesia .

Blume's type originates from Palembang in Sumatra . Seidenfaden is of opinion that Rao et al's plant from Thenmala looks like Tropodia pedunculata .

Occurrence : Quilon District.

Distribution : Indo-Malesia.
