The temple is built as per the temple-architecture style existing in this area and its size is not substantial. The Shree kovil is built in sand stone with a ‘mukha mandapam’ and directed towards west deity is of Lord Shiva and the image of Shiva linga and there are idols of snakes (naga devata) facing the image. There is only one pooja (offerings to god) at the morning. Ainkamam temple is administered by the Thiruvithancore Devaswam-Board and the temple festivals are held associated with Shiva-ratri that last for three days.

It is one of the southern most temples in Kerala State located at a remote village by name Ainkamam; about three kilometers away from Parasala. Ainkamam village is surrounded by Tamilnadu at three sides. The temple can be approached via Trivandrum Kanyakumari National Highway via Kaliyikkavila junction (just one km). The deity of this temple is Lord Shiva was once considered as the sole protector of this entire area.
