(a)Vadakara taluk(Vatakara taluk)

Lokanaar kaavu (Lokamalayar kaavu) near Vatakara is dedicated to Bhadrakaap and frequently mentioned in -the Northem Ballads (Vatakkan Paattukal). The Goddess is very powerful and the offering of eratti-paayasam is said to please the Goddess who will fulfil the desires of the devotee. This temple has some mural paintings. The Lokanarkaavu Mahavishnu and Siva temples are also ancient ones. The Siva temple at Vatakara and also Kalliyamballi temple, Edachery have some mural paintings.

(b)Quilandy taluk (Koyilanty taluk)

Vettakkorumakan temple at Balusseri has the idol in the form of a mirror. This temple had in earlier times the important vazhipaat of breaking ten thousand coconuts over night by both hands of ~ single person followed by abhisheka of the deity with kaJabha and rose water. Due to the huge expenditure this vazhipaat is now rarely done. Being War-God the main offering is still breaking of coconuts for warding of all evils and obstacles, though the number of coconuts nowadays used is considerably low. In the Sree Pisharikkaavu (Sharikkaavu) Bhagavathi temple at Viyyur (near Quilandy) there is an idol of ashta-baahu in panchaloha. Here the main vazhipaat is valia-vatta[am-kuruthi (a -mixture of tender coconut water, jaggery, rice powder, turmeric powder, milk and lime) for propitiating the goddess for the fulfilment of desires.

(c)Kozhikode taluk

The Thali temple at Kozhikode (Calicut) is historically important and associated with the Zamorins of Calicut. The Nanmunda Thali temple is another ancient one and the Siva-liriga here is big, the sankalapa of the prathishta being Uma-Maheshwara. The Varakkal Bhagavathi temple at the outskirts of Calicut town is equally famous and is a place for conducting Vaavu-bali for pleasing the manes (pithrutharppana). The ancient Thiruvilayanaattu kaavu; dedicated to. Bhagavathi has no prathishta as such and pooja is done fon the Sree-Chakra. Saptha-maathrkkal, Ganapathi and Veerabhadra are also installed within the sreekovil and the temple is classified under Rurujith-vidhaaaa. The important vazhipaat is Valia-kuruthi for uddishta-kaarya-siddhi. The Siva temple, Thiruvannur is unique with its exquisite architecture, particularly that of the adhishtaana. The important offering is dhaara.
