(a)Mananthavady taluk

Thirunelli temple (also known. as Amalaka temple or Siddha temple) dedicated by Brahma to Maha Vishnu (called Thirunelli Peru mal) is famous and a dip inr the holy water fountains of Paapa-naaSini, Pancha-theerttham, Rnamochni-theerttham, Gunika-theerttham, Satha-vindu, Sahasra-vindu and Varaaham is believed to wipe away all the sins committed through generations and give the devotee salvation. It is believed that the pithru-tharppana (oblations to manes) done here will also lead to the transportation of the spirits of the departed to salvation (regions of blissful spirits) wherein they enjoy eternal happiness. The main offerings of the temple are vattala- paayasam, nira-maala, rudrabhishekam, mrthynjaya-homam, thila-homam, karuka-homam, udayasthamalla-pooja etc. The Thrissaleri Siva temple is important but the prathishta of Jala-Durga is more famous as it was consecrated by Lord Parasurama. Rudrabhishekam and swayamvara-pushpaanjali are the important vazhipaats of this temple. Sree Valliyoorkaavu Bhagavathi temple has a swayambhoo-kannadi-bimba as the prathishta. Nai-paayasam and raktha-pushpaanjali are the important offerings.

(b)Sulthanbathery taluk

The original name of Sulthanbathery was Gaapathi-vattom, named after the famous Sree Maha Gaapathi temple, which is more than 800 years old. It has a beautiful image of G~apathi and the main vazhipaats are Maha GaI}.apathi homam, appam, Ottayappam, nai-abhishekam etc.

(c)Vythiri taluk

There is an ancient Sree Mahavishu temple ,at Muttil, the main offerings being paal-paayasam, otta and pushpaanjali. Edathara Siva temple, associated with Kottayam Royal family (of pazhassi Raja) has a swayambhoo- prathishta and the main offerings are dhaara, vijakk-mala and pana-payasam. The Manamman (Bhadra) temple, Vythiri has a mud prathishta of about one metre height. Muttarukkal and pushpaanjali are main vazhipaats. The Sree Porkali Bhagavathi temple, Vaduvanchal an ancient one, has the principal vazhipaat of pushpaanjali. The Thrikkaipetta Siva temple is about 850 years old and has a swayambhoo-prathishta.
