Therefore, in entrusting prathishta rites it has to be absolutely ensured that the incumbents are efficient in performing this sacred task, most diligently. In regard to kaaraanma thanthris it is noticed at present that many of them do not observe the rituals which they have to follow as per saasthras and they do not perform their duties properly because of lack of knowledge, dis-interest etc. A Deva-prasna conducted in front of the deity, in the presence of a renowned and devout astrologer and a Thanthri well-versed in thaanthric texts will help the temple authorites to ascertain the views of the deity on the capabilities and performance of the Thanthri. The selection of Thanthris for newly built temples has to be done from a panel of reputed thanthris only, preferably from those trained at the Thanthra Vidya. Peetham or similar institutions instead of making the whole selection process a mere mockery
