The temple was reconstructed it has been given the accompaniments of a complete Shastha temple. The main idol is at present that of Dharma-Shastha; installed at reconstruction. The original idol was formed of six un-carved stones (called swayambhu or self created). These six un carved stones represent human body like head, four limbs and the body as the old belief goes. Pooja is held two times a day; festivals connected with Makaravilakku and Painkuni (the birth-star of Lord Ayyappa). The Mavlikantan Temple is believed to be the center of prosperity of the entire village and the well being of the temple is associated with that of the entire area. Whatever be the fact; this belief has ensured the upkeep of this temple
