Mizhaav is an instrument exclusively used for Chaakkiar-kootth, and normally kept in kootthambalam. Mizhaav looks like a bellied jar tapering to the bottom and also to the top. It has normally a height of about 30 – 36 angulams. In this context it is worth mentioning that this instrument has not undergone any change over the centuries, except very slight deviation in size from one region to the other.
