Of late, it is losing importance either due to financial difficulties or due to dearth of competent artists having thorough knowledge on the intricacies of this martial art. Each player is well-dressed in the traditional dress of ancient Nairs and armed with sword and shield. The steps, movements and the fight resemble an exact warfare. The Oachira kali is a typical example of such a mock-fight.
