While the beating for panchaari-mela is done with two chernta-koles for paanti-mela only one chenta kole is used for drumming. Another difference is that blowing of kurumkuzhal is done in bhairav-raaga. The kaala measurements also vary Paanti mela in its full splendour can be seen at 'Ilanjitthara' within the Sree Vatakkunathhan temple compound during pooram festival where both sets of vaadyakkars (artists) create a vibrant and pulsating atmosphere and the spectators get delirious joy and excitement.
