Home > Temples of Kerala > Secret Chambers Secret ChambersIn some temples it is seen that there are dark secret chambers, which are inaccessible to devotees and even ordinary priests. Even when opened it will be used only for specific purposes. It is under,stood that some of these dark chambers contain sree-chakra (as in the case of the famous Kotungallur Sree Bhagavathy temple)and poojas done meticulously by those who have traditionallr acquired Sree uidyaa¬deeksha. Persons who have not acquired deeksha are even prohibited from attending this rite. (The belief that the secret chamber of Kotungallur Bhagavathi temple contains ashes of Kannaki is incorrect. )
