Home > Temples of Kerala > Temple rites Akshatha-homaThe three articles used for akshatha-homa are (i) leaves of vanhi shrub, (ii) ghee and (iii) akshatha (mixture of paddy & rice), each representing agni, vaayu and aakaasa. These articles are then touched to seven parts of the bimba, ie, paada(foot), jaanu (knee), guhya (genitals), naabhi (navel), hridaya (heart), Sira (head) and sikha (hair on top of head) by reciting concemed manthras and then offered in the homa-kunda (sacrificial fire). This is done for ensuring suddhi to the bimba from agni, vaayu and aakaasa
