The festival here is celebrated on the eighth day of the dark lunar fortnight of both Vrschikam and Kumbham but the former is important. The most auspicious time for worship here is when the moming shadow on that day attains twenty feet symbolising the time when Vyighrapaada Rshi got the vision of Lord Siva at this place. In many Siva temples Ashtami day of Vrschikam is celebrated as an annual festival with great sanctity and devotion.
