Home > Temples of Kerala > atthazha-pooja atthazha-poojaThis is the last pooja conducted in a temple as part of daily routine. Though in almost all temples deepaaraadhana (worship with lighted lamps and lighted camphor) is done it is not treated as pooja. In certain small temples, having only a pooja in a day, deepaaraadhana may be combined with the atthazha- pooja. As already indicated the time of atthazha-pooja is between one and 2 hours after sunset. ie, before 8.30 p.m. This pooja has the routine nivedya and wherever parivaara-prathishta are installed Sree-bali (Seeveli) is also conducted. In certain temples Thrippuka (burning of ashta-gandha) is shown besides offering kashaaya (a liquid made of molasses, cardamom and black pepper) to the deity.
