Home > Temples of Kerala > Temple rites Bimba-suddhi-kalasa-poojaOn the forenoon of the fourth day the only important rite is bimba-suddhi-kalasa-pooja at the Isaana-kone (north-east) direction of the sreekovil, which has already been subjected to sthhala-suddhi. A padma is laid at this spot as in the case of saptha-dasaka-dravya-nyaasa and kalasas are kept on each padma in a specified order, each meant for different deity. The kalasas contain ashtagandha-jala in specified ones and pure water in others. (The details of ingredients to be put in each kalasa are available in Patala 3, slokas 65-69 of Thanthra Samucchaya). Then nyaasa is done for each kalasa depending on the manthra for the deity. All kalasas are then covered with new (un-bleached) cloth and kept ready for the abhisheka, scheduled for the aftemoon of the sixth day of the prathishta rites. According to another school the kalasa pooja has to be conducted after agni-janana described later.
