Four cows are tied in the southem entrance of the mandapa with a durbha-cord and pooja done by chanting separate manthras relating to Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari and Saraswathi and garlands put on these cows. Then the calves of these cows are allowed to suck milk, and after washing the udder neatly they are milked. The milk is then used for making a porridge with rice (paalpaayasam) in a separate hearth, in the Aachaarya-kunda itself. Half of the palpaayasam is offered to the bimba and peetha with concerned manthras and remaining half used for vaisya-homa. Subsequently, it is given to Brahmins and also offered as bali at all directions of the mandapa. By completing this rite the initial part of the consecration rite is over.
