Home > Temples of Kerala > Temple rites Kauthuka-bandhanaThe procedure of kauthuka-bandhana is simple ie covering the right hand of the bimba with a satin or silk cloth, with mustard, pearl and gold inside it and tied up by a thread of a black blanket. The three articles of mustard, pearl and gold represent agni, soma and soorya mandalas respectively and when it is covered and tied with a rope it symbolizes the energy required for invoking kundalini-sakthi through the right hand where Pingala-nadi of the bimba is located. This is .done to ward off any defect to the bimba, thereby ensuring that the bimba is fit to acquire Deva chaithanya
