The Makam festival here is very famous and attracts vast concourse of pilgrims, particularly in the time between 2 and 5 p.m. The legends of the temple are associated with Adi Sankaracharya, Vilwamangalath Swamiyar, Kakkasseri Bhattathiri et al.
