Home > Temples of Kerala > Temple rites praasaada-prathishtaThe fIrst important rite on the sixth day, ie on the prathishta day, is praasaada-prathishta. after deha-suddhi and prayers the Aachaarya (Thanthri) sits at the entrance of the praasaada (sreekovil and then conducts the sodhana kriya (cleansing with mushiti, dhoopa etc. and ending with deepa) followed by reciting prathishta manthras by touching the praasaada. Then offerings are made and prasanna-pooja done. In the case of sreekovil dedicated to Siva the procedure is slightly different. In that case praasaada-prathishta is done after mandapa-pooja and , offering nivedya (porridge having ingredients of rice, honey, curd, ghee and milk) to the bimba. Then the same porridge is used as bali-dravya and offered at all directions of the mandapa, followed by the pooja of praasaada.
