The samskaara rite is done on the forenoon of the seventh day. The Thanthri does the sodhana-kriyas of the members of adhishtaana of valia-balikkall starting with abhisheka with ghee, and then cleaning with vaaka powder (fine powder of the bark of Kokko tree), pure water, ashta-gandha-jala etc. If the valia- balikkall is installed in a separate agra-mandapa or balikkalpura then the latter has to be tied with cotton thread and darbha-cord as is done in the case of purification of sreekovil. Otherwise it is enough if it is subjected to sodhana-kriyas followed by giving offerings, arghya-pushpaanjali and neeraajana. Then the valia-balikkall is covered with a new cloth, after sprinkling punnyaaha. On the night of the seventh day, Aachaarya, after his purificatory rituals, conducts rites, as in the case of dhyanaadhivaasa of bimba like bhootha-samhaara, bhootha-srishti, lipi-nyaasa, praanaayaama with beeja-manthra, peetha-manthra,nyaasa, again praanaayaama, vyaapaka pooja with bali, abhisheka and prasanna-pooja. Then at the north of valia-balikkall at the valiyambalam, anwaadhaanaadi homa is done. The items of homa are different for each deity. At its south nine padmas are laid ie. at the centre ashta-dala and around it at eight directions swasthik-padmas and kalasa-pooja done for them. The kalasa-pooja here is similar to that of bimba-prathishta. Homa is completed by conducting prasanna-pooja to the agni of the homa. Then the sampaatha of dravya-homa is taken and the kalasa and the bali-peethas are touched with the sampaatha. The pooja for bali-peethas is then done by reciting concerned manthras, offering haviss for peetha-adhipa and bali for ashta-dik paalas. Bali is then offered, as in the case of uthsava-bali, at five or nine points. The rite is completed by removing nirmaalya followed by abhisheka, and prasann.a-pooja and the balikkallu again covered with cloth. It is to be remembered that all kalasas are to be covered with new cloth. The actual prathishta of valia-balikkall is done on the forenoon of the eighth day.
