Home > Temples of Kerala > Shashti ShashtiShashti, is observed on the sixth day of the sukla-paksha (bright fortnight) with fast or one day-meal on the previous day ie, panchami thithhi day. This is meant for propitiating Lord Subramaya for progeny and prosperity. It is stipulated that Shashti is observed only on those days having thithhi for more-than 6 naazhikas,in the moming of the day. According to traditions Goddess Parvathi observed Sukla-shashti-vratha for 108 days for getting back Subramanya who disappeared in the form of Naaga. Similarly Devas observed this vratha at the battle field for propitating Skanda for slaying Thaarakasura.
