Home > Temples of Kerala > Temple rites Sirasthathwa-homaThis is also done just after sunset on the fifth day. The same homa-kunda at the sira position of sayya where agni-janana is done (paragraph 5.45) is used for this homa also. The principle here is the same as that of dhyanaadhivaasa ie, destruction of thathwas, and re-creation, by reciting concemed manthras and offerings given to the homa-kunda by specifIed articles for each deity. After homa the sampaatha is made to touch the bimba kept in ,the sayya. The principle here is that the impurities, if any, of the Aachaarya are eliminated by agni (fIre) and a new Aachaarya with a purified, pious and devoted soul emerges for the consecration of the bimba.
