For placing the bimba and for conducting the bimba-sudhi like kshaalana, plavana, snana, abhisheka with sacred things etc, it is essential to keep the bimba on a pedastal or peetha at the snana mandapa. Varahamihira describes snana mandapa as the site or ground within the shed smeared with cow-dung strewn with sand and also having a peetha made of sacrificial grass for laying the head of the image on a throne and the feet on a pillow. Of late pedastal or a stool made of jackwood is also used. In case of images, having a protrusion at its base, a stool, with a hole in the middle is used so that the bimba can be firmly placed. With this the rites on the forenoon of the fifth day are completed.
