In some of the temples Kaavati-etupp (carrying of kaavatis) on the shoulders of persons is held. Kaavati is semi-circular in shape with a horizontal pole just above the bottom with two pots suspended from its extended ends. The semi-circular portion is an ornamental wood-work with tapestry and pea-cock feathers. The pots contain milk, honey or rose water, all meant for abhisheka to Lord Subramanya. On this day in most Subramanya temples special poojas or festivals are conducted.
