Home > Temples of Kerala > Temple rites Upahara-daana(Offerings)By the side of vidyeswara-kalasas five other kalasas are kept at five points viz. the head, foot, on sides, tip of kireeta (crown) of the sayya (bed). The dravyas or articles in the kalasas are (ghee, honey, milk, water (invoked by saanthi manthras), and pancha-gavya kept in vessels of gold, silver, copper, bell-metal and mud respectively. Further all-these dravyas are also subjected to pooja by reciting panch-thathwa manthras. The contents of these kalasas, known as upahaaras, are subsequently offered to the deity after the installation (prathishta) rite
