Veyilakam Siva Temple

Veyilakam Shiva Temple is a very ancient temple located at Parasala Panchayat nearby girls’ high-school.

The Shreekovil of this temple is square shaped and directed eastward.

The idol of this temple is that of Shiva-linga and pooja is held only once in a day.
Temple festival is held in association with Shiva-ratri and the celebrations attract good crowds.

A description of a temple is complete only when an associated myth is described; here it is said that this temple is the original location of Mahadevar Temple Parasala (which is far bigger and more important this Veliyakam Temple. A Parayi who turned the posture of Shiva by her prayer had her first darshan (holy vision) at this temple.
