Pavakka Kondattam - Dried Bittergourd Fries

Ingredients

Makes: 50 gms

250 gms bittergourd (karela)

6 tsp red chilli powder

1 tsp turmeric powder

2 tsp salt

Method of Preparation

  • Wash bittergourds and dry thoroughly.Cut into thin round slices and remove seeds.
  • Combine spice powders and salt,and rub into bittergourds.
  • Spread out on a tray,cover with a thin muslin cloth,keep inthe sun for 3 days till completely dry and bottle.
  • Deep fry bittergourds as required and serve as an accompaniment at a meal where rice is served.
